Vitamin D plays a vital role in bone health as it reduces the risk of bone fracture, promotes calcium absorption, and is needed for bone growth. In the UK, epidemiological studies have shown evidence that lower Vitamin D status is highly prevalent, making it a public health issue we all need to support. Pregnant people may be at particular risk of not having enough Vitamin D.
We will discuss with a panel of experts GPs and obstetricians about the importance of vitamin D during the perinatal period.
